CHALLENGE

Located on the former site of the iconic “Disco Kroger”, once known for its quirky and creatively clad late-night clientele, this lux seven-story midrise apartment in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston, Texas, needed a brand that could bridge the neighborhood’s rich tapestry of old and new, lux and bohemian, high culture and low culture, dive bars and five-star cuisine, appealing to both longtime locals and new arrivals looking to connect with the local flavor and find a high-end place to call home.

STRATEGY & CREATIVE

A master stroke in upscale modern living, the dynamic design of the project’s interiors is a celebration of art and texture, clever contrasts, lush finishes, high ceilings and abundant natural light. This—along with the Montrose neighborhood itself, an artist haven known as the birthplace of Texas counterculture—inspired the name Artis, the Latin word for art. From this we developed a unique brand identity and expression that celebrated the unique art and culture of this area, with vibrant colors and geometric shapes playfully juxtaposed to form a compelling brand mark.

Solution

By expanding on the name "Artis", which is the Latin word for art, we developed a unique brand identity and expression that celebrated the unique art and culture of this area. The logo was inspired by geometric shapes and the color palette is bold and unexpected. We then brought the visual language to life across a number of applications, including stationery, collateral, branded merchandise, signage and social.

Results

Artis Montrose will break ground in Q1, 2025 with a fully realized brand expression, creating an unprecedented runway for a successful pre-leasing effort.
