Savannah City Market

The Heart & Hub of Historic Savannah

Overview

Savannah City Market, located in the historic district of Savannah, GA, is comprised of four city blocks with almost 90,000 square feet of leasable space. Under new ownership, Savannah City Market engaged Phase 3 to refresh their brand strategy and expression. Reviewing extensive research from a local historian and comparing that to the lived experience of current residents led to two key questions: How do we convey the essence of Savannah City Market as a historical place without getting mired in any one particular piece of the story? And how do we maintain Savannah City Market’s status as a beloved tourist attraction without it becoming only a tourist attraction?

Strategy

Struck by the shape shifting of Savannah City Market over the years as different tenants moved in and out and the buildings served different purposes, we looked for “one true thing” that remained through all that change. In essence, Savannah City Market has always and continues to be both the Heart and Hub of Savannah.

Solution

By expanding “The Heart & the Hub” big idea, we developed a unique brand identity and expression and applied it across multiple touchpoints, including a new website, signage, print ads, social media graphics, stationery suite and more. Today when locals and visitors engage with Savannah City Market, they become part of the heart of Savannah—and, standing in the “hub”, they feel better connected—both physically and emotionally—to the city at large.

Together, we can make something great.
